New Zealand securities remain at the following quotations : —Five per Cent. 10.40 Loan 1889 Loan xo6; Four and a Half per Cent., 1879-1904 Loan, 103. Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, remains at sis, and N T ew Zealand ditto at 50s. Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, 455. Australian tallow —best beef, 43s 6d ; best mutton, 455. At the wool sale to-day the bidding was steady, but the demand was not active. B,xoo bales were offered. Cricket. The cricket match at Sheffield between the Australians and Eleven of Yorkshire was concluded to-day. The visitors, who, at the close of yesterday’s play, had put together 25 runs for the loss of no wickets, resumed batting, and succeeded in making the required number of runs (99) for four wickets only, thus winning the match by six wickets. The principal scorers were—Massie, 44 ; and Bannerman, 36. Aquatic. Articles have been signed by Largan and Pearce for another sculling match, to be rowed upon the Thames on xoth July. A Bad State of Things. London, June 22. Telegrams are to hand announcing that large numbers of European refugees from Egypt are daily reaching Malta and Cyprus. The arrivals already number several thousand, most of whom are in an utterly destitute condition.
