Gladstone on the Egyptian Difficulty. ' London, Juno 13. In the House oi Commons to-day,
the Hon. W. E. Gladstone stated with reference to the present situation of affairs in Egypt that the Government considered that any discussion of the subject at the present time would be premature. The Premier, however, explained that the policy which the British Government were following aimed solely at securing the permanence of existing rights in Egypt, and that Turkey was acting in harmony with other European powers. Again Victorious.
The cricket match Australians v. Derbyshire was resumed at Derby today, when the visitors continued their first innings. The attendance was small, the weather being cold and inclement. The wicket was not in good order. The bowling of the Englishmen was dead on the wicket, and the Australians were all disposed of for a total of 292. Murdoch was caught for 46, Blackham was bowled for 52, and Giffen was bowled for 47. The Home team then commenced their second innings, but only succeeded in putting together 77. The Australians thus won the match by an innings and 109 runs. Money and the Markets Consols have declined to roojMj, ex div. New Zealand securities remain at the following quotations : —Five per Cent. 10.40 Loan Cent. 1880 Loan 106; Four and a Half per Cent. 1879-1904 Loan, 103. Colonial breadstuffs are unchanged at 51s for Adelaide wheat ex store, and sis5 is for New Zealand ditto; Adelaide wheat, 355, ex store. Australian tallow —Best beef remains at 43s fid ; best mutton, 44s fid. At the wool sales today 11,400 bales were offered to a firm market. London, June 14. Consols have again risen to ex div. There are no other changes to report in the money market or in the markets for colonial produce. 1,060 bales were catalogued at to-day’s wool sale, and good competition was experienced, at full current rates.

The ringleaders in the recent attack upon Europeans have been arrested. For the Preservation of Order. In consequence of the unsettled condition of the city the garrison has been largely increased. The total force of troops is now 12,200.
