[per reuter’s agency.] Cricket. London, June 12. The cricket match Australians v. Derbyshire was commenced to-day at Derby. The weather was cold and inclement, but the attendance of spectators was large. The home team went in first, and were all disposed of for a total of 106. The Australians then commenced their first innings, and at the close of the day’s play had lost two wickets for 136 runs. Massie was bowled for 66, and Banncrman was caught for 24. Won’t Agree to It. Naples, June 12. In the Chamber of Deputies to-day, Signor Mancini, Minister of Foreign Affairs, declared, in a speech which he made with reference to the state of affairs in Egypt, that his Government would absolutely refuse to assent to armed intervention by England and France in that country. The Disturbance at Alexandria. Alexandria, June 13. Mr C. A. Cookson, British consul at this city, who was seriously wounded during the disturbances which occurred on the loth instant, is improving in health. The Imperial Turkish Commission is still negotiating with the national party with a view to effect a settlement of the political crisis. Arabi Pasha at present remains master of
the situation. He has, however, during the iterviews with Dervish Pasha, promised the latter that he will obey the commands of the Khedive, and maintain order among the natives. The Khedive, accompanied by the Chief of the Turkish Commission (Dervish Pasha), has left Cairo for the city.
