TIMARU STEEPLECHASES. A telegram received as we were going to press informs us that the Timaru Steeplechase Cup was won by Clarence, Katerfelto second hnd Baron third. Quamby, Young Sledemere and Why biot also ran. It was a good race betwean the first three, the others not being in it. Quamby come down badly at the first jump, and refused several times after. The Maiden Steeplechase was won by Black Doctor, Overdraft, second, Canard, third. Gang Awa, Moltke, and Kosciusko also started. Kelly, the rider of Moltke, was considerably shaken, and had to bo assisted off the course.
