A NOVELTY IN RACING.

“ Falcon,” of the Leadet, remarks : The secretary of the Victorian Amateur Turf Club informs me that a novel race is likely to form a portion of the July programme, to be run on Separation Day. It is to be a race wherein all the horses are to be nominated by ladies. The nominator of the winning horse is to take the first prize, which will possibly take the form of a diamond bracelet, value about ioo'sovs. The lady who nominates the second horse will receive a pair of gold bangles, and the third a handsome fan. In order to les sen the difficulty of obtaining horses the distance is to be six furlongs, while the nomination fee will be kept at one sovereign. The intention has already got wind in fashionable circles, and rumor says all the ladies want horses, which is the duty of husbands, present and future, to provide. The husband’s share will be all honor and glory. He will be permitted to find the nomination money, pay the jockey, and for his profit is there not tlie ring ? Surely this is enough. Ladies, assert your prerogative. What is your husband’s here, in Australia, is yours. The horses are yours, and the jockeys engaged and retained by your husbands are yours. It therefore only now becomes necessary to make the bracelet, bangles, and fan yours also.”
