felt between 12 and 12.30 this morning, and another heavier one at 3.50. Destruction of a Wool Shed by Fire. A tire last night destroyed the wool shed of J. Raynor, at South Side. Besides the wool a scouring and wool drying machine, perfectly new, which were stored in the shed were both destroyed. The insurance on the building is—Llso and L2OO on the average of wool in the Royal. A policy of L 250 in the same office on tho wool drying machine lapsed last Thursday. Mr Rayner is a heavy loser. The origin is unknown. Burglary. Christchurch, To-day. Early yesterday morning Walker, Smith and Co.’s drapery store at Amberley was burglarously entered, and cash to the amount of L6O carried off. Guthrie and Larnach’s balance-sheet shows a loss for the year of L 24,949, duo entirely to two sources, namely, the burning down of the Para Raha mills and winding up two large branches.
