SUDDEN DEATH.

A man named Finlay McDonald died at the Ashburton Hotel yesterday, after a short illness. The deceased was an old friend of Mr McKenzie’s, licensee of the hotel, and had recently ret urned to the colony from Homo. lie was a Scotchman, and had friends residing at Invercargill. He had been stop' ping at the hotel since the Bth inst., was taken ill on the 10th, and attended by Dr Leahy, but died on the 11th. It is not yet known whether an inquest will be necessary or not.
