arrested on the Geelong racecourse for using the totalisator have been dismissed. Bush Fires. Owing to the extreme heat which is now prevailing destructive bush fires have occurred in various parts of the colony. Considerable loss of property has been occasioned. A Shock. A severe shock of earthquake was felt to-day at Jamieson township, in Upper Goulburn district. Another Mirzapore Small pox Case. Melbourne, To-day. Another case of small-pox has broken out among the passengers by the Mirzapore, who are in quarantine. The sufferer has been isolated. Alteration in Date of Sailing of Mail Boat. The Postal Department announcethat the P. and O. steamers will henceforth leave Melbourne with the homes ward mails on 'Thursdays insteatd of Wednesdays as in the past, excep during the Indian monsoon season.
