A HUMAN EYE TURNS TO STONE.

Dr Hougham, the well-known oculist’ has exhi >ited to one of our reporters an ossifie 3 choroid of the human eye, quite as arge as a silver quarter, and a couple of times as thick. It was develope' 1 by a recent operation successfully performed by the doctor. L. M. Richards, of Jefferson County, came to him some time ago, and told him that i‘2s years ago, while chopping in the woods, he injured one of his eyes. It became inflamed, but after a year’s time healed, leaving the eye totally blind. He was not bothered with it more until a year or more ago, when it again became very painful, and felt as though there was a strong pressure behind it. The other eye, in sympathy with the injured member, began tc fail also. Dr Hougham removed ti e eye, and was astonished to find that ossification had set in and the choroid had turned to stone. There are only two cases of this kind on record.— Milwaukee Sentinel.
