[from OUR OWN! CORRESPONDENT.] [BY TELEGRAPH.] Christchurch, To-day. The weather is now (2.45 p.tn.) clearing up, but the state of the wicket is such; as to entirely preclude the pos' sibility of the cricwet match commencing to-day. Weatfier permitting, play will commence on i Monday, but it will only be a two-dayj’s match, unfortunately, tjhe Eleven being billed for the Empire City on Wednesday. The steamer leaving Lyttelton on Tuesday will be detained jfor a few hours to enable the Englishmen to proceed by her. I was out aj the cricket ground this morning, and {it is not in nearly so bad a condition asj might be imagined, the completeness the drainage preventing the water lying on it.
