An intense heat has been experienced in the city to-day, the thermometer at the Observatory registering 107 in the shade. Shipping. Sydney, Yesterday. Sailed this morning—Union Company’s steamer Hero, for Auckland. Another Small-Pox Victim. One of the female passengers by the Garonne died at the quarantine station to-day. Going Home. Rear-Admiral Wilson and 192 officers and men who lately formed the crew of H.M.S. Wolverine will sail tomorrow for England by the Orient Company’s steamship Lusitania. Valedictory. Sydney, To-day. A public banquet was tendered to Rear-Admiral Wilson, on the occasion of his departure from the colonies. It took place last night. The affair was a great success. Escapees. Brisbane, To-day. Six escapees from New Caledonia have landed at Bowen ; two have been captured by the police. Arrived. Adelaide, To-day. Arrived last evening—Orient steamship Liguria, from Plymouth. Another Steamer Quarantined for Small-Pox. A lb any, Yesterday. Arrived this morning—The P. and O. Company’s steamer Mirzapore. She has two cases of small-pox aboard, and has been quarantined.
