POSTPONEMENT OF THE CRICKET MATCH.
[BY 1 ELEGRAPH. ] [BY OUB SPECIAL REPORTER,] Christchurch, To-day. Much disappointment was experienced here this morning when it became apparent that the match All England Eleven r. Canterbury Eighteen could not take place on account of the unfavorable weather. Heavy rain from the south-west :ommenced last night, and at the moment of my despatching this message i(j is coming down in torrents, with n|ot the slightest likelihood of its clearing up to-day. The ground, which jyesterday was in excellent conditioji, is, as may be imagined, totally unfit for play ; indeed, if the weather does not soon moderate, it will be impossible to commence the match to-morrovi'.
