[per press association.] Fatal Accident. Havelock, To-day. A m.m named Charles O’Doijnell met with an accident yesterday at Tojtara Hill, about eight miles from Havelock. A truck went over him bodily at 9 a.m., and he died at 3 p.m. Occupation of Maori Land. Opunake, Yesterday. On Jan. 3, during a gale, a heavy sea broke on board, carrying away the starboard quarter house, staving in the bulwarks and filling the cabin with water. The man at the wheel was knocked down and rendered almost insensible, and the boatswain (named Nicholas was killed;) New Zealand Potatoes for England. 3he Stir says J. A. Morran has devised a new method for treating potatoes so as to enable them to stand a long voyage, and trial shipments are about to be sent to England or India by Cunningham and Co. Bound tor London.
