The cargo of frozen meat brought by the steamship Europa, which left Melbourne on October 31st, was. examined to-day and found to be in excellent condition, the refrigerating apparatus having worked well during the whole voyage. Monetary and CommercialConsols are unchanged at New Zealand securities remain at the following quotations ; —Five per Cent. 10.40 Loan, 104 ; Five per Cent. 1889 Loan, 104.; Four and a half per Cent. 1879-1904 Loan, Colonial breadstuff's have advanced is per quarter; Adelaide wheat, ex store, is quoted to-day at 575, and New Zealand ditto at 535. Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, has advanced to 42s 6d ; Australian tallow, best beef, 39s 6d; best mutton, 44s 6d. The Suez Mail. The homeward mails via Suez and Brindisi, which left Melbourne on November 22nd, were delivered to-day. Arrest ot Lady Leaguers. London, Jan. 2. Seven lady Leaguers were to-day arrested in Ireland for seditious conduct. The Markets.
Best pig iron, No. i, f.o.b. in Clyde, has advanced to 53s per ton; best Sydney copra is quoted at LlB ss. The Frozen Meat Market. London, Jan. 3. The cargo of frozen mutton brought per steamship Europa from Melbourne has realised an average of from 3d to 6d per pound. There was a fair demand for the meat, but the weather was somewhat unfavorable for its sale. The French Resident and the Occupation of Tunis. Tunis, Jan. 2. M. Roustan, the French resident, was to-day presented with an address on his return to this city from Paris.
