CALEDONIAN SPORTS.
This year’s Caledonian Sports gathering promises to be of a more than ordinary attractive character. ✓There will be a full field for the Grand Handicap Flat Race, no less that thirteen competitors having entered. In all the other handicap events there are also full entries. More pipers and dancers are expected to be present this year than on any previous occasion. The sports will commence punctually at ten o’clock, and intending competitors in the quoit competition had better enter to-morrow, as only a very few minutes will be allowed for entries on the morning of the sports. It has been resolved to erect a Grand Stand, which will doubtless be found a very great convenience. The committee have altered their arrangements in so far as to admit carriages to the field on the payment of a small fee, conditionally on said carriages ranging round the boundary fence, so as to be out of everybody’s way. But the occupants of the vehicles will, by reason of their “exalted” position, enjoy an uninterrupted view of the entire course.
