LATE EUROPEAN NEWS.

London, Nov. 18.

The Standard states that the attention of Parliament next session will be devoted to the amendment of the laws in relation to Government of counties and the expediency of altering the laws and practices of Parliament.

In regard to obstruction and rioting in Clare, a market town in King’s County, Ireland, the military and constabulary stationed in that county have been re-in-forced.

The harvest returns from America for this year show a decrease in the wheat yield of a hundred million bushels compared with the yield last year. An earthquake in Switzerland has caused much alarm amongst the inhabitants. Greek troops entered and occupied Yolo, a seaport town in Thessaly, which province was lately ceded by Turkey to Greece. There were great rejoicings on the part of the inhabitants on the entry of fcho troopsA decisive battle has taken place at Algeria, between the French troops and the insurgent Arabs, in which the latter were completely routed. A quantity of dynamite on board the steamer Glasgow of Bristol exploded, and nine persons were killed. Great injury was done to the ship. Sara Bernhardt, the actress, is ill. A tariff convention, sitting at Chicago, is strongly in favor of a Protectionist policy. Australians resident in London have decided to present a testimonial to Mr McArthur, in recognition of the interest he has always manifested in regard to the Australian colonies.

Another agrarian outrage has occurred at Kerry, Ireland, five persons broke into the house and half murdered a farmer for paying his rent. Similar outrages occurred at Cork.

Austria has increased her import duties for protectional purposes. An attempt has been made to assassinate Deputy-Lieutenant Westmeath, who was fired at twice, but fortunately escaped without injury.
