The Wool Sales. At the wool sales to-day the catalogue comprised 9,800 bales. An animated demand was again experienced for the various lots offered. The Landlords ThankedEarl Cowper, the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland, made a speech to-day at Belfast, in which lie took occasion to thank the landlords of Ireland for rallying to support the law. He added that he feared the discontent and illfeeling of the tenants was deep-seated. The Reign of Terror in Ireland. A general and gradual revival of agrarian outrage and boycotting has of late been apparent in Ireland, and the attitude of the Land League is causing much apprehension. The Times , in a leading article to-day commenting upon the present position of affairs in that country, describes the situation as disappointing and disquieting, in view of the recent "labors of the Land Commission for the determination of agrarian difficulties. Guiteau’s Trial. Washington, Nov. 23. The trial of Guiteau for the minder of President Garfield continues. The witnesses called for the defence are seeking to justify the belief in the prisoner’s insanity. A Colony Protests. Natal, Nov. 23. The appointment of Mr W. A. Sendall, one of the assistant-secretaries of the English Local Government Board, to the Lieutenant-Governorship of this colony in succession to Sir Evelyn Wood, is viewed with much disfavor throughout Natal, and the Legislative Council, at its sitting to-day, voted six instead of the usual twelve months’ supplies, as a protest against Mr Sen dall’s appointment.
