Mr Purnell addressed a meeting of the Wakanui electors at the Seafield scHoolhousO on Monday evening last. Abotrt. forty : electors were present. ,Mr Murdoch Bruce was voted to the chair. The candidate addressed the meeting at considerable lehgth on the principal political topics of the day, and afterwards replied to sundry questions put to him. _' ; Purnell's remarks were warmly received, and a unanimous vote of thanks was passed in his favor. The meeting terminated with the usual compliment to the chairman.
