An injunction has been granted in the Supreme Court, calling upon Commodore Wilson to show cause why he should not be committed for contempt of Court for ordering the arrest of the deserting bandsman Yates, after he had been previously discharged by Judge Higinbotham, on the ground that he could not be treated as a deserter. News is to hand from the Islands reporting that the trading schooner Atlantic, while visiting Soloman Group, was attacked by natives in a most determined manner. A desperate fight took place between the crew of the vessel and the Islanders, during which several of the Kanakas composing the crew were killed, but the natives were finally beaten off. Commercial. The Milhum Creek Mine Scandal. Sydney, To-day,

In the Legislative Assembly last night, a lengthy debate took place in reference to the Royal Commissioner’s report on the Milburn Creek mine enquiry. Mr Baker, late Minister of Mines, contended that he was fully entitled to the money he had received. Garrett declared that he had not been connected with the mine for a long time, and courted further enquiry into the matter. The discussion was finally adjourned to Thursday next. A Step Higher. Intelligence has been received that Commadore Wilson has been raised to the rank of Vice-Admiral.
