Consols unchanged, at New Zealand 5 per cent. 10.40 loan, 105; 5 per cent. 1889 loan, 105 ; per cent, 1879-1904 loan, 103. Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse,4Bs fid ; New Zealand wheat, 45s fid ; Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, 345; Australian tallow, best beef, per cwt, 34s fid; best mutton, 36s fid. London, Junej2l. Consols remain at New Zealand securities are firm at following quotations:—s per cent. 10-40 loan, i°S ; 5 per cent. 1889 loan, 105 ; per cent. 1879-1904 loan, 103. Adelaide and New Zealand breadstuff’s are unchanged, as follows : Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, 48s fid ; New Zealand, 45s fid ; Adelaide flour, 345; Australian tallow—best beef is quoted at 34s fid ; best mutton at 36s fid. At to-day’s wool auction ic,600 bales were offered, making a total of 277,600 catalogued since the commencement of the series. The demand for all classes of wool is decidedly firmer. The third series of this year’s wool auctions will open on August 23rd. The importers’ committee have decided, not to place any restrictions upon the quantity to be offered. The fourth series of sales will commence on November 22nd. Census of Ireland. The returns of the census taken in April last show that the population of Ireland has decreased by 250,000 durthe decade. Disturbances in Bulgaria. Intelligence is to hand from Bulgaria reporting that a number of leading liberals have been arrested on a charge of attacking Prince Alexander and insulting the Government. England and Turkey. Constantinople, June 21. Earl Dufferin, who recently arrived here to fill the post of British Ambassador in succession to the Right Hon J. G. Goschen, had an audience of the Sultan. His Majesty, in the course of the interview, made most cordial reference to ancient friendship between England and Turkey, and, expressed a hope that the same would continue.
