There has been no sickness in the steatnei Oity of New York, which arrived from Sydney this morning,, but the passengexs are to be quarantined for twelve > days from their, departure from Sydney. - The outward passengers were taken .down to the steamer quarantine ground, and the vessel leayes to-night or early in the morning. The Australian ; passengers-! quarantined, are Mr and MrsDargaviUo and son, Messrs Shepherd, Smith, Axlatn r iMichel, Fancourt, Clark, Mrs Kumstoh. After a lengthy, hearing,'the jury today, gave LIOO damages against the Bank of New South Wales for 'dishonoring a cheque drawn by Mr Evans, now of Canterbury, but at the time a/Storekeeper/at Poverty Bay. . Mr Evans had received notice to pay up an overdraft, and to give no further cheques, but this cheque ; Was given before, the notice Was sent/, and; the manager knew it was current. f Malpractice. Yesterday a verdict for Ll5O damages was given against Dr Todd, of Waipawa, for malpractice.
