THE CHRISTCHURCH JEWELLERY ROBBERY.
[by telegraph.] Dunedin, To-day. At the City Police Court, John Anderson and Edward Hughes, charged with burglary and larceny of jewellery at Christchurch, were remanded till to-morrow. At the gaol yesterdaHughes made a voluntary statement to Inspector Weldon implicating himself and others, and took the Inspector to the Ocean Beach, where he unearthed from the sandhills a bag containing a large quantity of the stolen property. Christchurch, To-day.
Charles Henry Preston was charged at the Resident Magistrate’s Court this morning with being concerned in the burglary at the shop of Mr Hooper, jeweller, on May 2, and was remanded till June 22.
