WRECK OF THE BRIG PAKEHA

The brig Pakeha ran ashore on the Ninety Mile Beach, near Lake Ellesmere, at 9 o’clock this , morning. , Several of the fishermen went to the irreck with boats, to render assistance. They found the vessel a total wreck, and that all hands—supposed to have been seven- in number—except one man had'been drowned. The name of the survivor is Christian. He was found lying, on the beach, in an insensible state, and was brought to the hut occupied by the fishermen, and taken are of. Hh&Lytielton Times correspondent at Leestoni writes The brig Pakeha, .z 70 tons, bound from Kaipara to Dunedin, laden with timber, was wrecked on Saturday morning at 9 : o’clock, on Taumutu beach. Seven men were ; lost, and only one was saved, Christie Petersen, who was washed on shore with the deck cargo. The nattaes of the lost are:—Captain Boer'; first mate, John Walker; second mate, Frederick —— cook, Christie Smith; A.B.’s, Anderson, Charles Carlson, and Alfred. The vessel belonged to Messrs Finlay and Company* Dunedin, and is insured for Li,200.'
