Alarming Condition of the Country. Large Assemblage of Land Leaguers. Severe Fighting Between the Mob and the Police. Captu.e of the Rioters. Rescue of Prisoners after Further Conflict. (by cable.) London, June 6. An open air mass meeting was held at Hyde Park to-day with reference to the state of affairs in Ireland. Mr Parnell, M.P. for Cork, was pxesent, and addressed the meeting, commenting upon the present condition of that country, and demanding that the Government should at once take steps to put a stop to the eviction of tenants from their holdings, in order to avert the serious consequences that would result if such practices were permitted to continue.

At a meeting under the auspices of the Ladies’League, held at Tulla today, Miss Parnell, in a speech which she made on the occasion, counselled the people to adopt measures to completely ostracise the police in Ireland. London, Juno 7.

News has been received from Ireland that a large number of people assembled to-day in Tramore, in the County of Waterford, to attend a meeting called by the League agitators. The authorities had learned that the meeting was to be held, and had previously despatched a large force to the neighborhood, and as soon as the people assembled, the police arrived on the scene, and dispersed the meeting. Some resistance was offered by the mob, but no serious disturbance occurred.

The Government have, within the past few days, had the position of affairs in Ireland under their consideration. Several meetings of the Cabinet have been held to discuss matters, and it has transpired that it has been decided that the authorities in Ireland should maintain a very firm attitude, and adopt the strongest possible measures to suppress the increasing disorder. London, June 8.

Accounts to hand to-day from Ireland continue to give further evidence of the alarming state of the country. Numerous further arrests of prominent agitators and suspected persons have been made during the past few days under the Coercion Act.

Active steps are being taken by the authorities to stop all meetings called together by the Land League. Large numbers of people assembled yesterday at Mullingor, in the County Westmeath, but the police were despatched to the scene, and the meeting was prohibited and the crowd dispersed. At Shrule, in the County Mayo, yesterday, a serious not occurred between the police and the peasantry, who had assembled in large numbers to prevent an ejectment. Severe fighting took place, and several of the rioters were arrested. The mob, however, again attacked the police and rescued the prisoners, after further conflict. News to hand from Cork states that the roads in the district have been destroyed, and the telegraph lines have been cut in several places.

Large detachments of troops have accordingly been despatched to traverse the country and prevent further outrages.
