RANGITATA ROAD BOARD.

Election of Members.

A public meeting was held yesterday at Messrs Wilkin and Carter’s woelshed, Maronan, for the purpose of electing five gentlemen to constitute the above Board. Mr C. P. Cox was,E,eturning Officer, and, at the hour advertised, invited nominations, with the'result that the following gentlemen were proposed—viz,:—Messrs E. G. Wright, Morrow, Peter, A. Gibson, McColl, and Dr Trevor. The nominations being in excess of the number of gentlemen required to act, a show of,hands was taken, with the follow-

The newly-elected members briefly returned thanks for the honor conferred on them, promising to use their best efforts on behalf of the interests of the newly-formed district. A vote of thanks to the Tieturning Officer followed, and the proceedings terminated.

First Meeting of New Board.

A meeting of the newly-constituted Board was held following, at'which Mr B. G. Wright was elected Chairman. Be place of meeting. Mr McColl andDr Trevor made offers of rooms, and it was ultimately decided to accept the use. of Dr Trevor’s house (late Mr Cox’s), near the Rangitata out-station. It was decided, to invite by advertisement applications for the appointment of Clerk and Overseer to the Board; the candidates to be informed that they could hold other appointments as long- as they attended to the duties - required thoroughly ; the applications to be made at the next meeting of the Board on Saturday, the 11th inst., at 11 o’clock ; and also that a map of the County and a Rate Roll be obtained. Mr, Chichester having undertaken the latter, it’was left with* the Chairman to arrange about the remuneration.

The meeting then adjourned to the 11th inst.
