Great inconvenience and loss has been caused by Mr Barston, the only Resident Magistrate here going South to attend a judicial commission. The District Judge is also away. The Auckland Stabbing Case. The charge against Sims of attemptingto murder the girl at Riverhead is proceeding at the Police Court. The medical evidence shows several veins were severed by the wounds, but the knife fortunately missed the principal blood vessels. It is almost a miracle that the wounds were not fatal. More Grey Orations. Sir G. Grey addresses the electors on Monday night, at the Theatre Royal. A Small Tire. Dunedin, To-day. A fire occurred at the Union Chambers, Princes street, this morning. The damage was trifling.
