THE CAUSE OF THE TARARUA DISASTER.

By Rev. Mr Sidey. [by telegraph.] Napier, To-day. Alluding to the Tararua disaster in in a sermon yesterday, the Rev. Mr Sidey recognised it as a judgment from heaven, and he said by over-work the Union Steamship Co. had lowered the morals of their men. The Company also manifests supreme contempt for the bearing of divine law and the moral well-being of some of the communities with whom their trade brings them into contact in the treatment of the Sabbath. To this there has scarely been a matter of protest on the part of those communities whom they affected. They have been left to pursue their own way regardless of any claim of heaven or earth. The almighty dollar has been the one grand consideration in all their arrangements.
