A lad named Panzetaw, residing at Ranzau, received a kick from a horse and has died, after 48 hours severe suffering. A Wrestling Contest. Timaru, To-day. A wrestling match for LSO a-side came off this morning at Lea and Whitley’s saloon, between Hudson, of Dunedin, and Slade, of Temuka. The match was for the five best falls out of nine, and was won by Slade. Hudson was out of condition, or the result would probably have been different. About 200 persons were present, including many bookmakers down for the races. Betting—2 - to 1 on Slade. A Happy Miss, Dunedin, To-day. L. Rodgers, of Invercargill, is not a passenger by the ill-fated Tararua. He missed his passage at Port Chalmers. The Population of DunedfiT The census return of the population of Dunedin City shows 12,182 males ; 12,067 females ; against 11,599 males and 10,926 females in 1878.

Cut in Two. The body of a child, run over by an engine on the northern line, was found last night literally cut in two. An inquest will take place.
