[per press association.] The Government Declined. Dunedin, To-day Mr Simpson, R. M., and Mr Maitland, J.P., were invited to investigate the charges against the Benevolent Institute management. The Government declined to do so as the institution is not a public one. Another Incendiary Fire. Early on Thursday morning, a sixroomed house at Green Island, belonging to Mr George Wallace, was destroyed by fire. It was insured in the Victoria office Ll6O. Mr Wallace estimates the value of the tenement at Ll2O above that amount. As the place had been unoccupied for six weeks, it is supposed the fire was the work of an incendiary. And Yet Another. Invercargill, To-day. 'Anderson Bros, saw-mill, near Invercargill, was burned down last night. The working plant was destroyed or made useless, and only insured for a small amount in the National office.
