ASHBURTON PERMANENT BUILDING SOCIETY.

The annual meeting occurred yesterday afternoon in the library. It was shown by the chairman’s statement that the position of the Society was a very satisfactory one and that more business had been transacted during the past year than during the whole of the five proceeding years that tho Society had been established, and he mentioned that the increase in monthly receipts had been from L 25 to L3OO. The report and balance sheet wore read and adopted. An election of Directors for the ensuing year resulted as follows : —Messrs Trevor, Bullock, and Ward ; Mr Jameson being elected to act as a director in the place of Mr Weymouth Roberts. 7. vote of thanks to the retiring directors concluded the business of the meeting.
