Elgin School Committee.
An ordinary meeting of the above committee was held on Monday evening last. Present—Messrs J. S. Bruce (Chairman), Peter Innis, John Cochrane, Jas Skillen, and Andrew Leatham. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
Mr J. Cochrane proposed, and Mr Andrew Leatham seconded —‘ ‘ That offers be invited for keeping the schoolroom clean, in accordance with schedule of duties agreed upon.”—Carried. Mr a 7 Leatham proposed, Mr P. Junes seconded —“ That the Master be informed that he is not to give any holiday or halfholiday without previously obtaining the sanction of the Committee.” —Agreed to. MrJ . Cochrane proposed, and Mr P. Innes seconded—“ That the Committee cannot grant the Master’s request to enlarge the garden to a greater extent than already allowed, as they consider it will spoil the play ground.”—Carried. Accounts were passed for payment amounting to L2O 18s, and the Committee adjourned.
