ASHBURTON AGRICULTURAL & PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

A general committee meeting of the above was held at Quill’s Hotel last evening. Present—Messrs John Carter (vicepresident), C. P. Cox, T. Bullock, W. H. Zouch, Joseph Hunt, Silcock, and Hay T. Smith. , . •- The Secretary said the; business before the meeting was to decide upon the question of having the medals engraved and given to those who had signified their intention to accept the same instead of money prizes ; also, to fix the time for the annual meeting, which, according to the bye-laws, would have to be held this month.

CORRESPONDENCE. The following correspondence' was read : From the County Council, signifying their approval of the Society’s re-letting the cattleyards. From Mr F. B. Passmore, re the charg( s made for stock in the cattleyards, and pointing out that the auctioneers should be requested to commence their sales of stock earlier, in order that buyers iray take delivery of their stock the same afternoon. —It was decided to enquire into the matter complained of by Mr Passmore, with a view to inn rove fie delivery of stock. From Messrs Coates and Co., forwarding a sample of silver medal piocured by them from London for the Association, also enclosing account for same.

ANNUAL MEETING. It was decided that the annual meeting of members bo held in the upper room of the Town Hall on Wednesday, April 27th, at 3 o’clock p. m. ANNUAL REPORT. Mr Bullock moved, and Mr Zouch seconded —“ That Messrs Cox, Carter, and the Secretary be appointed a committee to draw up report of the Association for the annual meeting. ” " LEFT OVER. A discussion ensued re the election of officers for the ensuing year, also the question of erecting a shed for exhibits on the ground, and it was decided that these matters be left to the sub-committee to embody in their report to the annual meeting. The meeting then adjourned.
