[per reuter's agency.] The Reform Bill. Melbourne, April 7. In the Legislative Assembly last night a message was received from the Council asking that a committee should be appointed to consider the Reform Bill. Mr Berry stated that he agreed to the suggestion, and proposed himself, Messrs Longmore, Mirams, Pearson, Tucker, Vale, and Grant, and the leader of the Opposition, as members of the Committee. Sir John O’Shanassy energetically protested against the selection; but upon a ballot being taken, it was confirmed. Mr Berry, in the course of the debate, stated that he could only make a small concession to the Council. The latter’s committee will consist of Sir Charles Sladen and Messrs Cuthberts, Hearne, Reid, Fitzgerald, Balfour, and Mcßain. The joint committee are not expected to succeed in bringing about an understanding on the Reform question. The first sitting of the conference of the committees was held to-day. Sir Charles Sladen, M.L.C., discussed the measure at length. Mr Berry replied, and conversation of a desultory character followed, The conference has adjourned till Monday next.
Prorogation* . It is expected that the prorogation of Parliament will take place on Thursday, the 14th inst.
