HOKITIKA MURDER TRIAL
The trial of David Hutchison for the murder of his wife, was resumed at the Supreme Court yesterday. The evidence sho wed that the prisoner had saved a gun and a bag of provisions from the burning house, and that ho had hold of his wife’s leg, but did not save her. His Honor the Judge summed up in favor of the prisoner. The jury retired at half-past seven, and were locked up at ten o’clock, not having come to an agreement. At one o’clock this morning (the telegraph informs us), the jury brought in a verdict of “Not Guilty.” A. nolle prosequi was presented in the second indictment.
