(Per Reuter's Agency.) The Proposed Conference. Melbourne, March 10. In the Legislative Assembly last night the debate on Mr Murray Smith’s motion for a conference of the two Houses on the Reform Bill was concluded, and on a division being taken, the proposal was rejected by 40 to 33. Mr Graves, Sir John O’Shanassy, and Sir Bryan O’Loghlen, voted with the minority.
Inquest. .• Melbourne, To-day. An inquest on the remains of the men who met with their death by the disaster to the boat of the Cerberus failed to elicit any fresh facts in connection with the explosion. The Reform Bill. In tiie Legislative Assembly last night the Reform Bill was under consideration in Committee of the Whole, As the Government declined to submit to any amendment, tire Oppposition abstained from discussion, and most of the clauses of the Bill were passed through Committee. Sold by Auction. Sydney, March 10. '] he steamer Collaroy, which went ashore on the coast near Sydney .on the 20th of January last, is still in the same position. She was sold at auction to-day as she lies for LSIS. Fire. Brisbane, March 10. ■ A serious fire occurred to-day at Toowoombo, Queensland, and caused the destruction of six houses. They were insured for Li,ooo in the New Zealand Company, and Li,500 in the South British.
