(Fcr Heater's Agency.) The Wool Sales. London, March 9. At the wool sales to-day, 8,000 bales were catalogued. The bidding was animated. The next series will commence on May loth. The total quantity to be offered during the sales will be limited to 350,000 bales. Further Arrests. The authorities in Ireland are vigorously employing the powers granted by the Coercion Act for the apprehension of persons guilty or suspected of treasonable conduct. In addition to the arrests already reported to have been made, warrants have been issued, and are being daily executed, against many other suspected persons. The Ashantees. Intelligence has been received from the West Coast of Africa which gives a complete disavowal of the reported intention of the Ashantees to attack the British settlements on the coast. The news to hand states that the envoys from the Ashantees have arrived at Cape Coast Castle, and have assured the Governor that the King has no desire to provoke war with the British. Consols. Consols have advanced }{, and are to-day quoted at 99P8Wheat. Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, has declined to 49s 6d per qqfilbs. Changes in the Cabinet. It is generally expected that important changes will shortly take place in the Cabinet. The Boer Rebellion. Capetown, March 9. News has been received from Natal that Joubert, the commander of the Boer forces, is making strorag efforts to induce the loyal Boers in the Transvaal and Free State to join in the rebellion. At the same time President Brand is doing his utmost to bring about a peaceful settlement of affairs.
