A fire last night destroyed two shops in the North-east Valley occupied by Heniy Miller, chemist, and Henry Bloxham, painter. There was a great scarcity of water, and considerable difficulty was experienced in preventing the flames spreading to the Cattle Market and hotel. Bloxham’s stock was insured in the Transatlantic Office for L 125, and his furniture for L 125 in the North British, but he estimates his loss at LIOO above that. Miller was uninsured, but saved all his stock and effect s.
