An information has been laid by the Superintendent of the .Asylum against three of the female attendants for striking and ill-treating a female patient. Presentation. Invercargill, To-day. Mr. Fox, late Inspector of Police, w.as presented with a purse of sovereigns and a testimonial to-day by his Worship the Mayor and influential citizens. Harbor Board Elections. ! There is great excitement over the Harbor Board elections. There are six candidates for the seats representing the town. Spurgeon. Mr. Spurgeon preached, twice to immense congregations. His style as a preacher, is conversational, and free from rant or twang. A Convent. Bishop Moran, at. the Catholic Churph, announced that the erection of a convent would be commenced shortly.
