Thirty-one names have been selected from which a team of 22, to play the Australians, will be chosen. The following are the names:—Mumford, Lestro, Longan, (2), Dufaur, M'Cormick, Cox, Stewart, Bendon, Robinson, Colbeck, Beale, Roach, Lynch, Arnell, King, Isaacs, M‘Kay, Bowden, Torch (3), Whiteside, Creek, Wood, Gleesun, Swanson, Carter, Buckland, Ivens. and Yates. The match has been fixed for the 21st to the 23rd of this month. Election for the Southern Moari Electoral District. Wellington, To-day. A writ has been issued for the election of a member to the House of Representatives for the Southern Maori Electoral District, vice Tainui, resigned. The nomination is to take place at Kaiapoi on the Ist of March, and the poll on the 25th March. Gazette Notices. Mr. Bryce’s resignation, and Mr. Rolleston’s appointment as Native Minister, is gazetted ; also H. K. Taiaroa’s resignation as Native Assessor. A young man named Thomson, aged twenty-three, who was sentenced at the last session of the Supreme Court for embezzling moneys belonging to his employer, a storekeeper at Waimate, was liberated by order of the Minister of Justice this morning, he being at the point of death from consumption.
