A destructive fire occurred last night at the wharves at Petrie's Bight, on the Brisbane river. It broke out at night, and raged for some time, doing considerable damage to property, though the destruction was not so great as it was at first feared it would be. Tho actual extent of the loss is not yet known, but the insurances comprise L 2,000 in the South British, half of which is reinsured with the National and the Colonial of New Zealand ; also LBco in the Standard, and E3OO in the National.
