The Walking Contest—Drugged While Competing. Melbourne, Dec. 4. Baker, one of the competitors in the walking tournament now proceeding, has been drugged by a spectator who gave him some beer. Baker is, however, still able to contest. Dec. 5. The finish at the pedestrian tournament was most exciting. Baker walked 307 miles ; Swan, the New Zealand competitor, 300 ; and Seymour 280.
