(Per Press Association.) Grahamstown, Aug. 27. Great indignation is felt here re the proposal to divert the L 15,000 vote to the line between Hamilton and Cambridge. The Borough Council have appointed a committee to draft a protest, and at a meeting of the Railway Committee this morning, a very strong protest was drawn up. Auckland, Aug. 27. At the last meeting of directors of the South British Insurance Company, Mr. Johnston, who has been performing the duties during Mr. Boardman’s absence, was appointed permanent manager. His Worship the Mayor, on behalf of a deputation of citizens, presented the Town Clerk, Mr. W. A. Phillips, with a purse of overeigns, Amongst the through passengers by the mail steamer Australia for Sydney were Herr Bandmann, actor; Miss Louise Bandet ; M. Rowalaky, the eminent painist ; Miss Boyer, soprano, from the Conservatoii-e, Milan; and Billy Sweetman, negro comedian. The two girls, Elizabeth Harris and Cecilia Carroll were committed for trial for jewellery robbery. The father of the girl Harris was acquitted. The insurances on the Auckland Oil Expressing Company’s works and stocks,' destroyed by fire, were L 2,000 in equal proportions in the New Zealand and South British Insurance Companies. Both Companies had partly I’einsured. Gold is reported as having been found at Monganui. A consignment of Ligurian bees arrived by the mail steamer, having been shipped by Mr. J. Creighton. They arrived in excellent condition, and one box is being despatched by the s.s. Arawata to the Secretary of the Christchurch Acclimatisation Society. Another consignment is made to Mr. Harrison of Coromandel, Auckland. Wellington, Aug. 27. It is understood that Government do not intend to interfere with the sentence of two months’ hard labor passed on Wills, schoolmaster, for assaulting a man named Jordan. A letter has been received by the Secretary to the New Zealand Commission of the Melbourne Exhibition to the effect that all gentlemen who are either members of tho Legislature or belonging to the New Zealand Commission for the Melbourne Exhibition will be entitled to free passes to the Exhibition, and visitors to free passes over the Government lines of railway upon their arrival in Victoria. The inquiry into the present administration of affairs at Wellington Hospital was continued yesterday afternoon. The evidence so far is in favor of the officials. The enquiry was adjourned until this afternoon.

The trial of the Kyeburn murder case has commenced at Naseby, hefoi’e Mi’. Robinson and a full Bench. A fresh information has been laid against Le GuyHe is now charged with the murder, and Ah Lee with aiding and abetting. Commissioner Weldon prosecutes, and Mr. Rawlett defends.
