Wohk. —ln these dull times it is satisfactory to observe that work has not altogether ceased. We make this remark because we do not remember seeing in the Christchurch papers so long a list of adver tisements for tenders as appears Three hundred chains of fencing are wanted done by Mr. G. Pocock, Methvcn (labor only) ; two cottages at Springston, one at Rakaia (four rooms), a house and stable at Philipstown, a house in. Armagh street and a cottage in Wilson street (Christchurch), a shop and dwelling at Leeston, alterations and additions to the Temuka Hotel, a Presbyterian manse at Rakaia, four semi-detached villas in Oxford street (Christchurch), a house at Addington, a fitetory arid shop in Christchurch, a two-storey house near the Christchurch racecourse, four cottages in Gloucester'-street.'■Christchurch, one on the North Town Belt there, and a cottage in Merivale are amongst .the, building works for which tenders are asked. A road ffrom Lake Coleridge to Lake Lyndon, a concrete bridge over the Heathcote, and the re-formation of the Back Track, Mount Hutt district, will find employment for other kinds of labor.
