Teachers’ Salaries. — At a meeting of the South Canterbury Board of Education on Wednesday, the following schedule of reductions in teachers’ salaries, etc., was agreed to, in consequence of the reducj tion in the education vote. Salaries under LOO to be exempted from reduction ; over LSO and under LIOO reduced 7 per cent. ; over LIOO and under Ll5O, 8 per cent. ; Ll5O to L2OO, 9 per cent. ; L2OO to L 250, 10 per cent. ; L 250 to L3OO, 11 per cent. ; L3OO to L 350 12 per cent. The bonus to masters for successfully passing pupil teachers is to be reduced 50 per cent. ; payment for instruction of single pupil teachers to be reduced 25 per cent. ; inspector’s salary to be reduced 12 percent. ; incidental grants to school committees to be reduced by 33 per cent.
