A SHINING LIGHT UNDER- 1 SHADOW.

Our Saturday’s telegrams informs us the fact that William Acton Blakcway Adams, Esq., an M.H.R., and a luminary of the barrister’s roll is at present under a cloud. He gave some very shady evidence a month or two ago in the R.M. Court, Nelson, in reference to professional transactions he had had witli a client, and his evidence was of such a nature that it was deemed advisable to lay a criminal infer-

mation against the legal legislator for perjury. The Grand Jury sat on the case yesterday and brought in a true bill against Mr. Adams, who will appear on Wednesday next, in the new role of a prisoner at the bar. Mr. Adams’ weak point is his intense personal vanity, as witness the triumphant manner in which he received a testimonial from the Nelson College boys, a number of whom were a week or so afterwards arraigned for some facts bordering upon petty larceny. “ One fool always finds others to admire him,” and in this case the Nelson College larrikins, and the Nelson city representatives seem to be well met.
