It ap • peared from the .evidence of Mr Pilkingtom and a railway guard, that the acouscdl booked from Ashburton to Timaru om Friday morning, travelling by the 111 o’clock express. They got out of the traim at Tenmka, anc later on entered tlwn Glii’istchurch train, arriving in Ashbnrtom again by the afternoon express. The mem were asked to produce their tickets, an<E ■ failing to do so were asked to pay their railway faro from Temuka. Refusing to >' no this they wore given in charge. Hi si Worship remarked that the accused hat rendered themselves liable to a line of £lO each.
