It must be very gratifying to the inhabitants of Auckland to witness the many little improvements that have been made on the roads and streets in, and around Auckland, since Captain Rough has been appointed Superintendant of Works; go in what direction you will improvements meet you ; it is true the sum appropriated for public works, roads, aud bridges voted thb year by'the Council was small, but oven that is to be reduced by £SOO. We are serry for thist as it will throw many poor-men out of employment, some of -whom has large families.
