CAPE OF GOOD HOPE.

(From the Cape Frontier Times, May 9 ) We peiceive by the Government Gazette that another if 10.090 of the Colonial debt has been cancelled, which is now reduced to the sum of £40,950. Of thissum it appears that £20,950 consists of de» bentures, leaving in fact only £20.000 in Government notes uncancelled" which charge the resources of the Colonial Treasury are amply sufficient to meet without the issue of any Debentures :■— Notice is hereby given, that the issue of such Debentures has ceased; but that outstanding Government Notes will continue to be received bv the Commiss sariat Department in exchange for Bills upon Her Majesty's Tieasury, on the same terms as British Silver Money; and that they will also be exchanged for specie, on demand, at the Colonial Treasury, or at the Offices of the respective Civil Commissioners until further notice. [' And as His Excellency the Governor is anxious that ail snch outstanding JSi otes should be redeemed, and withdrawn from circulation, as speedily as possible and as the period of their exchange for specie will therefore be limited,—all managers of Banks, Assurance Offices, and other Public Establishments, and a 11 Inhabitants generally, are hereby called upon to present such Notes for exchange without delay.
