LAW.

Those vampires of Society, the Lawyers, are at present exceedingly busy in gettingup cases for the approaching term, and urging their unfortunate clients for cash, to -meet, what they term Costs out of Pocket , land which are never likely to return to the pocket of the party who allows himself to be gulled out of that money which would be much more usefully employed if given towards the payment of the claim on the Tee-total Hall instead of the support of some stupid fellow who will be more likely to bungle a plain case, than succeed in getting a verdict, —and, when the judgment happens to be favourable, in most cases it is of no value, for the opposing practitioners are sure to ruin the defendant before the suit is concluded, so that the Plaintiff loses all hope of obtaining what is due to him, and is allowed the satisfaction of paying his own expences, to the gratification of the learned gentlemen. But, if it should happen, that either party have the means of paying further costs, the worthy Solicitor will urge the client to apply for a new trial, or get up a special case, so that he may keep him in his toils, as long as a Debenture can be raised, and at last, with an air of apparent sympathy will tell the poo r devil that he regrets that it is out of his power to do anything more for him. Therefore beware of Law and Lawyers, of course we do not include any of the respectable practitioners in the above notice. It applies to the class of persons known as “ pot house” case hunters.
