Poets Corner.

TO A FRIEND. When spring's gay verdure cowns (he soil, And genial skies defend From chilling airs the Flori st's toil : ’Tis sweet to have a Friend. When summer paints her velvet (lowers, And grace with beauty bl end ; When straying thro’ Arcadian bowers,— ’Tis sweet to have a Friend. When Autumn's lingering leaflets weep, And fruits in clusters bend ; When Flora’s blooming damsels sleep,- > Tis sweet to have a Friend. But oh ! when winter’s storms appear, And darksome clouds descend, When Hope is withered with'lhe year, And all our comforts disappear,— How sweet to have a Friend, Australia.
